In this position, The Onshore Wind Engineering Technician is a hands-on, in-person product validation role located in Schenectady, NY. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in assembling and testing electrical and mechanical support systems for GE’s world-class 6MW+ onshore wind turbine product portfolio. Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in a technical field, successful completion of a relevant trade apprenticeship, or equivalent OR HS Diploma or equivalent with 5+ years of relatable experience (IE: Electrician, professional automotive mechanic)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with mechanical or electrical systems
  • Must be eligible to work in the USA without sponsorship now or in the future
  • This position is 100% onsite in Schenectady, NY at the GE Plant
  • Ability to work 2nd shift 3PM to 11PM

Nice To Haves

  • Strong grasp of physics, mathematics, hydraulics, computer & programming skills, six sigma methodologies, electrical & mechanical diagnostic techniques, safety, and environmental concerns.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer systems and current office suite programs i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assembly and testing of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic support systems.
  • Interpret and understand schematics with a fundamental understating of circuit theory.
  • Employ the use of electrical test equipment and instruments (required) (multimeter, ohm meter, TC's, etc.).
  • Employ the use of hand and power tools (required) (wrenches, screwdrivers, drills, etc.).
  • Basic knowledge of flow characterization equipment, thermocouples, pressure transducers, and data acquisition systems.
  • Audit and validate data for quality and completeness.
  • Direct & aid bargaining unit personnel in the running and connection of HV wires, and associated hardware.
  • Utilize computer software to monitor, diagnose and repair equipment controls as necessary.
  • Perform Factory Acceptance Testing with customer oversight for demonstration of unit functionality.
  • Initiate Quality Control Reports for out of specification test results per quality plan.
  • Accurately and completely document information required for the process being performed.
  • Execution of methods and unit-specific customer requirements as prescribed by design engineering, management, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to navigate 3D viewer software and interpret pertinent technical information to the scope of the role.
