About The Position
The Online and Graduate Program Specialist at Southeast Missouri State University plays a vital role in supporting the academic success of online and graduate students. This full-time position is situated within the Online and Graduate Services department, which is dedicated to enhancing student success through effective advising and resource allocation. The specialist will report directly to the Assistant Director of Online and Graduate Services and will be instrumental in guiding students through their academic journeys, particularly those facing various personal and economic challenges. In this role, the specialist will engage with students through various communication methods, including face-to-face meetings, emails, phone calls, and web conferencing. They will provide comprehensive advising to help students navigate their educational paths, ensuring they have access to the necessary resources and support. Additionally, the specialist will actively participate in recruitment efforts, attending events to attract prospective students to the online and graduate programs. The onboarding process for new students will also fall under the specialist's responsibilities, which includes reviewing their previous coursework, recommending substitutions, and ensuring they complete the online orientation. The specialist will serve as a liaison to academic colleges and departments, facilitating communication and providing essential data to support enrollment management functions. Monitoring student retention and advocating for online and graduate students will be key components of this position, as will maintaining up-to-date knowledge in distance education and academic advising. The specialist will utilize various computer systems to manage student records and generate reports, ensuring data integrity throughout the process.
