We think about the customer and make doing business with McCain easy. We are seeking dedicated and safety-conscious Production Laborers to join our food processing team. Onion Preparers will work in a fast-paced environment to ensure the efficient preparation of onions through end cutting and re-peeling processes. This role will require a working schedule of a 12-hour rotating night shift 6 PM to 6 AM.

Requirements

  • Must be trainable to change blades for the slitter.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Willingness to work sanitation shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control the flow of onions on conveyor systems.
  • Load onions onto the flight chain, ensuring correct alignment and orientation.
  • Place onions in every pocket on the flight chain that feeds the End cutter. The normal operating range is 45 to 65 onions per minute.
  • Ensure that each onion is straight with the root end facing the preparer as it enters the End cutter.
  • Remove loose debris from the onions and ensure that the cut ends are lying flat on the belt.
  • Use compressed air to clean onions of residual skins.
  • Adjust conveyor speeds and guides to prevent jams and maintain product flow.
  • Rotate between the end cutter and re-peeling stations every 30 minutes.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area per food safety standards.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout and GMP practices.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Assist in problem-solving and participate in team projects.
