About The Position

Assist the Head or Group Teacher in carrying out those activities which will ensure that the classroom meets with the Head Start Performance Standards and New Jersey Licensing Regulations for assigned child.

Requirements

• Must have a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Must have knowledge of Child Development and Behavior Intervention.
• Must have a car available on a daily basis.
• Must be able to read and write sufficiently to maintain proper records.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing identified interventions for assigned child provided by the Mental Health/Disabilities Team.
• Assist the teacher in implementing educational activities in the classroom and interact with assigned child in a developmentally appropriate manner. Assist the Teacher in the development and implementation of individualized plans for assigned child.
• Assist the Teacher in observing, screening, assessing, and documenting assigned child’s growth and development. Document observations and individual activities in blue books.
• Assist in carrying out administrative duties as delegated by the teacher.
• Prepare and maintain appropriate records or reports for assigned child.
• Participate in weekly Center staff meetings and all other meetings as requested. Attend training and workshops.
• Any other Head Start task as delegated by Teacher or management
