About The Position

Responsible for the facilitation of educational curriculum and student success at the microschool concept called Spark Community Schools. Uses a blend of technology-based and teacher-led lessons to ensure mastery of content. Throughout the school week, supports students with Social Emotional Learning, Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Project-Based Learning. Helps cultivate a learning environment where students can be curious, independent, productive, and kind. Creates a safe-space where students are honored and valued for who they are. Assists students attending microschools with learning, supporting students where they are. Works in our microschool setting with approximately 25-30 Kindergarten-12th grade students and up to two instructional aides. Supports individual student needs with creativity and innovation while respecting all students and families and their access to quality education. Uses high-impact instructional practices and motivational techniques to engage students in learning.

Requirements

  • Five years or more of instructional experience with students
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience using a computer and online tools (email, websites, video streaming, etc.)
  • Ability to pass a Level 1 background check, drug screening, and obtain an AZ IVP fingerprint clearance card
  • Good judgment, discretion, confidentiality

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supports student recruitment, enrollment, and retention efforts to meet site-level enrollment targets aligned with GCNA budgetary requirements.
  • Lead and support relationships with the on-site partner leadership at assigned location.
  • Manage budget and expenses for the assigned location while maintaining proper resources.
  • Leads a blended-aged classroom of approximately 25-30 students.
  • Responsible for student recruitment and administration of classroom when class is not in session.
  • Maintains an environment of safety and inclusion.
  • Guides students’ individualized learning needs.
  • Designs instructional groupings and small-group learning activities.
  • Assigns staff to support instructional groupings and small-group learning activities.
  • Monitors student academic progress using both informal measures and formal benchmark assessments.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for parents and families, maintaining regular, timely, and responsive communication.
  • Motivates students to be excited about learning.
  • Encourages student-led experiential learning.
  • Manages student behavior in a supportive and kind way.
  • Leads and models high-quality instructional practices for both students and instructional aides, including planning, implementation, and in-the-moment coaching.
  • Maintains regular and consistent in-person attendance.
  • Ensures prospective families are supported throughout the enrollment process, in coordination with Spark and GCNA enrollment systems.
  • Provides regular, professional feedback to leadership on policies, systems, and operational practices affecting the microschool campus.
  • Participates in the recruitment, interviewing, and selection of classroom staff in collaboration with Spark and GCNA leadership.
  • Develops and adjusts daily staff schedules to ensure student safety and appropriate supervision, including coverage for staff absences, in alignment with host site and GCNA requirements.
  • Responsibilities include all other duties as assigned by leadership.
