About The Position

Key Responsibilities Technical & Operational Duties Calibrate, operate, and maintain line identification equipment to ensure reliable detection of underground utilities, while maintaining detailed documentation and certification records. Locate and mark underground utilities using GIS and mapping tools; install identification markers on company-owned lines within required timeframes. Conduct line crossing inspections and monitor digging and boring activities, verifying compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements. Maintain and update mapping data for underground assets, ensuring consistency and accuracy; record one call activities in centralized systems for timely access and reporting. Compliance & Coordination Uphold regulatory, environmental, and safety standards in coordination with Operations Foreman, Superintendents, and the Environmental Health and Safety Department. Lead and support emergency response efforts related to excavation activities, following established protocols and maintaining emergency response plans. Serve as a field-wide contact for underground utility detection, acting as a point of communication during emergencies or significant occurrences. Communication & Stakeholder Engagement Respond to inquiries and requests for information regarding underground utilities from contractors, lease operators, coworkers, and the public; maintain accurate records of all communications. Notify lease operators of planned boring and digging activities near flowlines and pipelines to minimize risk and ensure safety. Attend and coordinate Wide Area Conferences (WAC) for New Mexico projects, collaborating with stakeholders on large-scale or complex excavations. Training & Professional Development Assist with orientation and training of team members, sharing expertise on calibration techniques, mapping data consistency, SOP implementation, and technical skills. Support the professional development of lower-level employees and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. Process Improvement & Adaptability Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for calibration, locating, marking, and emergency response. Contribute to efficient operations and adapt to evolving company needs and priorities. Additional Expectations Perform complex departmental tasks under general supervision, demonstrating initiative, accountability, and effective communication across teams and divisions. Maintain a professional and safety-focused approach in all activities.
