The oncology social worker provides services to cancer survivors, families, and caregivers through clinical practice providing comprehensive psychosocial services and programs through all phases of the cancer experience. Psychosocial support services are to facilitate patient and family adjustment to illness utilizing knowledge of the psychosocial impact of disease on individuals and families as it relates to their age, stage of development, culture, physical and psychosocial competence. Provide individual and group counseling and advocacy services and works collaboratively with the health care team.
