Requirements

  • College-level coursework preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years healthcare experience.
  • Excellent oral and communication skills, interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates flexibility to handle multiple tasks with a high degree of accuracy and control of detail.
  • Computer skills required.
  • High School Graduate / GED.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the front office and back-office staff, including schedulers and their daily activities.
  • Act as the point-of-contact for all Physician offices referring patients to the Cancer Center for Medical or Radiation Oncology.
  • Contact patients and schedule appointments.
  • Obtain medical records prior to patient appointments.
  • Compile all information into the new patient medical record.
  • Coordinate all outgoing consults and referrals.
  • Serve as the main point-of-contact for the Sarah Cannon facilities at CenterPoint Medical Center for new patient referrals.
  • Coordinate high risk patients and Genetic Counseling appointments.
  • Coordinate with physicians and practice managers to put together physician call schedules, CMEs, and vacation schedules.
  • Assist with provider PTO, call schedule, and other duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate scheduling functions for established medical and radiation oncology patients for follow-ups, labs, chemotherapy, genetic counselors, financial/nurse navigator, as well as outside physician consults and testing.
  • Coordinate reviews for any pre-testing preparation with patients.
  • Fax appropriate documentation and/or orders to receiving department or facility.
  • Coordinate obtaining precertification or preauthorization as required by insurance companies.
