About The Position

Requirements

• Current RN licensure in the state of Utah.
• At least 12 months working experience as an RN.
• Active certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Oncology experience highly preferred.
• OCN certification required after 18 months of employment.
• Ability to bend, reach, hold, lift, pull, push, and or carry up to 10 pounds regularly.
• Ability to multitask is required.

Responsibilities

• Assess psychological and physical effects of cancer diagnosis and side effects of chemotherapy.
• Use critical thinking skills to plan and implement interventions for solving patient problems within scope of nursing practice.
• Educate patients and family members on chemotherapy treatment, side effects and remedies.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment to ensure patient's comfort.
• Maintain patient and staff confidentiality.
• Assess and access PACs and PICCs; must be proficient in IV skills and lab draws.
• Execute prescribed treatment interventions, administer prescribed medications, and monitor patient response.
• Have knowledge of chemotherapy drugs and dosages according to cancer diagnosis.
• Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections.
• Calculate treatment dosages and mix chemotherapy drugs.
• Ability to safely handle hazardous drugs and mixing equipment.
• Utilize knowledge of chemotherapy medications, cancer diagnosis, diagnostic procedures, and infection control.
• Be proficient documenting in electronic MAR and use of office equipment.
• Demonstrate ability to effectively function in high stress environment.
