About The Position

Requirements

• Board certified as a Physician Assistant
• Current and active NYS PA License, ACLS, and DEA required
• Minimum of 2 years experience as a practicing clinical PA with a focus in oncologic hospitalist management or within a given subspecialty of oncology
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities

• Performing H&Ps and providing both autonomous and team-based patient care for the medical management of adult hematologic oncological inpatients
• Perform bone marrow aspirations, lumbar punctures, central line removals, insertion of feeding tubes, and assist with intrathecal chemotherapy administration
• Perform comprehensive physical and neurological exams on both acute and chronically ill patients
• Diagnosing, treating, ordering, and interpreting laboratory/radiologic tests
• Work well within a multidisciplinary team of attending physicians, residents, APPs, and nursing staff to ensure optimum quality of patient care
• Function as a clinical liaison between Oncologists, patients/families, and consulting departments
• Assist with discharge planning and follow-up care plans
