About The Position

The Oncology Pharmacy Tech Specialist is responsible for maintaining good rapport and cooperative relationships, approaching conflict constructively, and helping to identify problems and offer solutions. The role involves maintaining confidentiality of patient information, discussing patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel, and behaving in accordance with the Code of Conduct and Service Excellence Standards. The specialist will complete screenings and assessments, review clients' electronic health records, and select appropriate therapeutic interventions based on clinical knowledge. Responsibilities include providing short-term psychotherapy, ensuring accurate documentation, and monitoring the delivery of health services. The position also requires maintaining strong relationships with the treatment team and providing consultation and training to staff.

Requirements

  • Minimum of six months specialized training beyond High School Diploma.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in sterile compounding, previous home infusion pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Current State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician license required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares IV admixtures for home infusion patients.
  • Interprets and follows complicated compounding formulas.
  • Maintains knowledge of all equipment used in clean room and associated policies.
  • Ensures appropriate NDC products are used for compounding.
  • Maintains advanced knowledge of IV stability and storage issues.
  • Prepares Hazardous Drugs for home infusion patients.
  • Responsible for filing paperwork to maintain compliance.
  • Verifies and confirms shipping/delivery addresses and times with customers.
  • Completes final packaging for shipment/delivery.
  • Assists with drug ordering and inventory functions as needed.
