About The Position

Symmetrio is currently recruiting on behalf of a large physician practice for an Oncology Pharmacist. This key role is integral to the care of cancer patients within the practice. The Oncology Pharmacist will be responsible for providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care, which includes the precise preparation, dispensing, and monitoring of oncology medications. By collaborating closely with oncologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, this individual will ensure the effective management of cancer therapies, contributing to patient care and outcomes. This position is based onsite in Tuscaloosa, AL. Great work-life balance, remote Fridays!

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited pharmacy school.
  • Active pharmacist license in the state of Alabama.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in oncology pharmacy preferred.
  • Experience in a clinical setting, preferably within an oncology or hospital environment.
  • Strong knowledge of oncology medications and protocols.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to patient safety.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, dispense, and manage oncology medications, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other related treatments.
  • Verify and review medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and compliance with established protocols.
  • Provide expert guidance on drug interactions, side effects, and potential complications associated with oncology medications.
  • Collaborate with the oncology care team to develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Conduct patient education on medication regimens, including potential side effects and adherence strategies.
  • Monitor patient responses to therapy, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to optimize outcomes.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient cases and provide pharmacological insights.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of oncology clinical protocols and guidelines.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in oncology pharmacy practice and integrate new knowledge into patient care.
  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory standards and guidelines related to the preparation and administration of oncology medications.
  • Maintain accurate records of medication dispensing and inventory management.
  • Monitor and manage potential adverse drug reactions and medication errors.
