POSITION SUMMARY The Oncology Nurse Navigator (ONN) at the Spencer Cancer Center is responsible for implementing the cancer navigation program. The ONN works closely with the multidisciplinary team to navigate services across the care continuum, including early detection, screening, treatment, and survivorship for patients in the ambulatory setting. The ONN determines the needs of the cancer patient and facilitates access to appropriate in-house and community resources in a timely manner. The ONN helps patients understand the disease process, treatment options through consultative planning and appointment coordination with their physicians. Collaborates in the development and coordination of support functions related to cancer including but not limited to: cancer conference, Cancer Committee, volunteer peer-to-peer support, support groups & counseling, and patient education. Serves as a professional resource in the cancer care continuum and disease process, including both solid tumor and hematological malignancies.

Requirements

  • ADN
  • 2 years oncology nursing experience in an ambulatory setting
  • BLS & ACLS within 3 months
  • ONS Chemotherapy & Immunotherapy Provider Certificate / 1 month

  • MSN
  • Prior experience as a navigator project or program development and management experience
  • OCN / 12 MONTHS OR IN AREA OF SPECIALTY / 3 YEARS
