About The Position

The RN Lead is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of patient care within an assigned team of Registered Nurses. This role supports clinical operations through patient assignment management, staff coverage coordination, case management, quality assessment, and interdisciplinary communication. The RN Lead serves as a clinical leader, promoting best practices, patient safety, and professional nursing standards in alignment with West Cancer Center policies, regulatory requirements, and organizational values.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited nursing program.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • At least three (3) years of experience with West Cancer Center.
  • Current RN license to practice as a professional nurse in the state of employment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with patients, families, physicians, and staff.
  • Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources to resolve complex clinical issues.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and workflows.
  • Ability to implement new processes, promote efficiencies, and maintain patient safety.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and clinical excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate department operations including scheduling, patient assignments, and daily workflow monitoring.
  • Provide direct patient care in accordance with the responsibilities of an Oncology Nurse Navigator or Infusion Nurse.
  • Communicate effectively and timely with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members.
  • Demonstrate leadership and promote professional nursing practice among team members.
  • Support the development of a competent, productive, and quality-focused nursing staff in collaboration with the Clinical Resource Nurse and Nursing Director.
  • Ensure staff compliance with federal, state, local, system, and regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing Services with payroll and timekeeping responsibilities.
  • Participate in Medical Oncology operational meetings and committees to support coordination and operational improvements.
  • Foster a positive work environment that supports staff engagement and retention.
