About The Position

The Oncology Nurse Clinician delivers proficient patient care to adult cancer patients in various settings, including outpatient clinics and infusion centers where chemotherapy is administered. The Oncology Nurse Clinician will use the nursing process to competently perform patient assessments, formulating nursing diagnoses and establishing goals, planning and implementing interventions, and evaluating patient care outcomes. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to provide for assessment and therapeutic management of patient and family needs. Proficient in managing unexpected or emergency situations that are commonly seen in assigned specialty population. Serves as a resource for LVNs and Medical Assistants. Can manage commonly seen contingency situations that arise on the clinical unit.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Two (2) years of Clinical RN experience, with prior experience in oncology.
  • Active RN license or valid temporary permit to practice professional nursing in Texas.
  • Permanent license must be obtained within 90 days.
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
