About The Position

Nebraska Medicine is seeking an Oncology Educator to join our Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center team, this role is located in Omaha, NE. Requirements

  • Minimum of two years clinical experience in Oncology required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) required
  • Excellent teaching and communication skills (written and verbal) required.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, teamwork and work with minimal direction required.
  • Public speaking ability required.
  • Basic knowledge in office computer tools such as Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in multiple areas of Oncology (inpatient and ambulatory) preferred.
  • Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) or closely related field degree preferred.
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Nebraska or current compact state license (if applicable).
  • Oncology Nurse Certification (OCN) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide education and support people affected by cancer while helping them to better understand and manage their condition.
  • Encourage self-management that promotes the achievement of individualized behavioral and treatment goals that optimize health outcomes in persons with cancer across the health care continuum.
  • Provide educational opportunities to the community about cancer screening and prevention through outreach activities.
