About The Position

SCRI Oncology Partners, located in Nashville, Tenn., is a dedicated cancer treatment center led by globally recognized oncologists with disease expertise in cancer care and clinical research. This center offers patients state-of-the art personalized cancer care and opportunities to participate in clinical trials with innovative treatments. The practice conducts clinical trials through their affiliation with Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI), a global leader in oncology research that has been offering and managing clinical trials in the community for over 30 years. Since its inception, SCRI has contributed to pivotal research that has helped advance the majority of new cancer therapies approved by the FDA today. SCOPE: The Oncology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) functions under physician supervision or in direct collaboration with practice physicians to deliver comprehensive care to individuals, families, and patient groups affected by cancer or related diagnoses. Responsibilities span the full continuum of oncology care, encompassing prevention, screening, patient management, and research. Depending on the needs of the practice, this role may serve in various capacities, including direct patient caregiver, healthcare consultant, patient educator, administrator, or researcher. The APP is expected to maintain compliance with OSHA and all applicable regulatory standards while upholding the US Oncology Compliance Program, including its Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Requirements

Nurse Practitioner: Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program
This position typically requires a minimum of 3 years of experience as a practicing Nurse Practitioner, preferably in Oncology
RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner. AOCNP preferred
Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.
Physician Assistant: Current state license as a Physician Assistant in practicing state. Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
Current NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) certification.
This position typically requires a minimum of 3 years of experience as a practicing Physician Assistant, preferably in Oncology.
Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients
Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response and prescribes therapies as indicated
Performs procedures with minimal supervision
Assesses patient/family needs and provides education
Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs
Often incorporates evidence-based research into clinical practice
Solid knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
Completes patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion
Likely to provide case management for patients and their families
Sometimes serves as a resource for nursing staff by providing information being studied in clinical trials
May provide palliative care for the patient and their families as needed
May promote/provide staff education
May mentor new advanced practice providers
May precept APP students
Other duties as assigned
