About The Position

Prime Healthcare is seeking a Board-Certified / Board-Eligible Radiation Oncologist to join the oncology team at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine. This physician will provide comprehensive radiation oncology services to patients within a growing regional cancer program, delivering advanced, evidence-based cancer treatment in collaboration with a multidisciplinary oncology team. The Radiation Oncologist will play a key role in treatment planning, clinical care, and program development while supporting the mission of Prime Healthcare to deliver compassionate, high-quality care to the communities it serves. Requirements

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an accredited Radiation Oncology residency program.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Radiation Oncology by the American Board of Radiology.
  • Eligible for or able to obtain a Maine medical license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with modern radiation therapy technologies and treatment planning systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive radiation oncology services including consultation, treatment planning, and ongoing patient management for oncology patients.
  • Evaluate patients to determine appropriate radiation therapy protocols.
  • Develop individualized radiation treatment plans using advanced technologies and evidence-based guidelines.
  • Administer and oversee external beam radiation therapy, stereotactic radiation, and other advanced modalities as available.
  • Monitor treatment response and manage potential side effects of radiation therapy.
  • Work closely with medical oncologists, surgeons, pathologists, radiologists, and other specialists to coordinate integrated cancer care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and oncology case conferences.
  • Collaborate with radiation therapists, medical physicists, and dosimetrists to ensure accurate and safe delivery of radiation treatments.
  • Support continued development and growth of the cancer program at Central Maine Medical Center.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, safety programs, and accreditation standards for oncology services.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation and comply with regulatory requirements and hospital policies.
  • Engage in community outreach, patient education, and cancer awareness initiatives.
  • Participate in teaching opportunities if affiliated with medical education programs.
