About The Position

Medical Oncology Physician. Bitterroot Health – Hamilton, Montana Bitterroot Health seeks a Medical Oncology Physician to join a collaborative, patient-centered oncology program serving Ravalli County and surrounding rural communities. The Medical Oncologist will provide comprehensive cancer care across the continuum, supported by a dedicated APP, experienced Oncology RNs, Medical Assistants, Nurse Navigator, and Pharmacy team. The program integrates tele-oncology partnerships, care coordination, and evidence-based practice to deliver high-quality, personalized treatment. This role offers the opportunity to practice comprehensive oncology in a growing community-based program with clinical autonomy, strong interdisciplinary support, and the ability to help shape program development. Requirements

  • MD or DO from an accredited allopathic or osteopathic medical school
  • Residency training in Medical Oncology or Hematology/Oncology
  • Board certified or board eligible in Medical Oncology or Hematology and Medical Oncology
  • Active, unrestricted Montana medical license, or ability to obtain
  • Full prescriptive authority and active Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration, or ability to obtain
  • Ability to successfully complete Bitterroot Health credentialing process
  • Desire to live and practice in a rural community with world-class outdoor recreation
  • Candidates requiring visa sponsorship cannot be considered at this time

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and collaborate with APPs as applicable
  • Provide clinical guidance to oncology nursing, MA, pharmacy, and infusion staff
  • Partner with nurse navigation, nursing leadership, and pharmacy to ensure coordinated, evidence-based care
  • Participate in peer review, provider mentorship, program development, telehealth, and potential inpatient oncology oversight
  • Provide comprehensive community-based oncology care for solid tumors and hematologic malignancies
  • Manage an efficient, independent outpatient practice using strong clinical judgment in complex cases
  • Support program growth and service line development within a community hospital
  • Maintain compliance with oncology and infusion regulatory standards
  • Demonstrate strong communication, interdisciplinary teamwork, and commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care for rural populations
