About The Position

The Onco Immuno Translational Research (TR) Scientist Intern position at Johnson & Johnson is a full-time summer internship designed for undergraduate and graduate students interested in oncology and immunology. Interns will engage in research and development of new therapeutics and precision medicine strategies, working closely with mentors and project teams. The internship aims to provide hands-on experience in a pharmaceutical R&D setting, with opportunities to present findings to senior leadership and at a research symposium.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the US with no required sponsorships
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited University or College program throughout the duration of the internship
  • Completion of a minimum of four semesters for undergraduate students
  • Student in good standing, working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree
  • Experience or pursuing a degree in biology, computational biology, cell/molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology/immuno-oncology, precision medicine and diagnostics or similar fields
  • Graduate students must be pursuing a master's or PhD degree
  • Self-motivated and passionate about drug development and clinical research
  • Proven leadership/participation with campus programs and/or service programs is desired
  • Detail-oriented with good organizational skills
  • Strong leadership skills to participate and contribute to program initiatives and events
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Great interpersonal, verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Good presentation skills; leading presentations to peers, project teams and senior leadership teams
  • Enthusiastic, collaborative, able to build relationships and work within global matrixed and cross-functional teams
  • Ability to analyze data using standard coding-based analytical platforms (e.g., R, Python, etc.)
  • Ability to work on and balance multiple project deliverables
  • Working knowledge and/or experience using Microsoft suite of business tools including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, Slack, Sharepoint, OneNote

Responsibilities

  • Experimental design and execution
  • Participating in department and team meetings
  • Participating in cross-functional team meetings
  • Data collection and record keeping
  • Hypothesis-driven data mining
  • Quickly and quantitatively assess PD effect and patient response to intervention
  • Shadowing key functional roles for learning/development opportunities
  • Assisting with interpretation, reporting, and preparation of oral and written results of product research
  • Working with a physician scientist or clinical scientist to support ongoing or planned clinical studies
  • Conducting research or supporting biomarker strategy development through assay development and analysis
  • Working on projects related to target validation and patient stratification using multiomics datasets
  • Reviewing literature on disease-specific biology and related new technologies
  • Preparing abstracts/posters for presentation at organization-wide research symposium
  • Other projects as assigned
