About The Position

The On-site Home Visitor position is designed to provide support to eligible families with expectant parents and parents of children from birth to 3 years of age. This program aims to support young military families, contributing to military mission readiness and helping family members adapt to military life. The role involves enhancing knowledge and skills for healthy relationships, providing safe and nurturing environments for children, and preventing family violence. Responsibilities include offering activities and services such as information and referrals, parenting programs, respite care for children, and supervised playtime. Families assessed as being at risk for child maltreatment and/or family violence will receive additional, more intensive support from these services. The position requires effective, timely, and confidential services for families, protecting client privacy, and identifying and reporting suspected child abuse and neglect.

Requirements

  • At least two years of direct work experience in child abuse or domestic abuse, or maternal or child health or medical social work.
  • Current and active license as an LCSW, LMFT, or RN.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Workers must possess a master's degree in Social Work.
  • Registered Nurses must have a bachelor's degree in nursing and at least two years of relevant experience.
  • Home visitation experience is required.
  • Valid driver's license and auto insurance.
  • Working knowledge of basic computer skills and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others effectively.
  • Ability to work under time pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to travel as needed and adhere to AFSC travel policies.
  • Ability to enter private homes with varying accessibility.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to families with expectant parents and parents of children from birth to 3 years of age.
  • Offer information and referrals, parenting programs, respite care for children, and supervised playtime.
  • Deliver effective and confidential services for families at risk of child maltreatment and/or family violence.
  • Protect client privacy and confidentiality.
  • Identify and report suspected child abuse and neglect and domestic abuse.
  • Assess developmental milestones and referral procedures for indicators of special needs or developmental delays.
  • Strengthen adaptation to parenthood and parental capacity for problem-solving.
  • Promote developmentally appropriate parenting skills and communication skills.
  • Facilitate community networks to build positive relationships and reduce social isolation.
  • Develop relationships with local community and military installation officials.
  • Utilize community-based services to provide support for families in crisis.
  • Screen for, assess, and address protective and risk factors associated with child abuse and neglect.
  • Maintain an up-to-date tracking system with case status.
  • Participate in monthly conference calls and annual training events.
