About The Position

The position involves loading and unloading inbound or outbound freight and equipment such as Equipment Centers, Generator Enclosures, and Customer Supplied Equipment using appropriate large lift trucks, cranes, and rigging equipment. The role requires assisting Manufacturing with major on-site logistic needs, determining load weights, and verifying against equipment lifting capacities to prevent overload. The individual will work closely with the Shipping Lead and other staff to provide accurate details for each shipment, prepare buildings for shipment, and ensure secure shipments with Heavy Haul Transportation providers. Safety is a priority, and the individual must keep materials and the work area clean and organized. Additional responsibilities include performing the duties of a Material Handler as needed and completing projects or functions assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Experience operating standard and heavy load capacity forklifts for complex loads preferred.
  • General knowledge concerning operations of cranes, lifting, and rigging preferred.
  • Good hand, arm, leg dexterity and coordination.
  • Basic math skills and computer skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility with work hours, including extended hours, Saturdays, and Sundays as needed.
  • Ability to maintain composure when faced with conflict.
  • Ability to carefully judge distance accurately.
  • Ability to work effectively with details and numbers.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload inbound or outbound freight and equipment using large lift trucks, cranes, and rigging equipment.

  • Prepare buildings for shipment by boarding openings and banding doors.
  • Work with Heavy Haul Transportation providers to ensure secure shipments.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area free from safety hazards.
  • Ensure all materials and equipment are organized, used, and stored properly.
  • Perform responsibilities of Material Handler position as needed.
  • Complete projects or functions as assigned by management.
