Brigham Young University–Idaho is supported and guided by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Its mission is to develop disciples of Jesus Christ who are leaders in their homes, the Church, and their communities. As a private, baccalaureate institution, the university is teaching focused and student centered by design. Applicants must have a degree in a liberal arts or humanities field. Degrees, for example, in art history, literature, musicology, film studies, classics, history, or philosophy would be relevant. Successful candidates will teach HUM 110 Discovery and Discernment Through the Arts. This involves teaching the basic elements of literature, visual arts, music, theater, and film and guiding students to develop skills of analysis, interpretation, and critical judgment of the arts. Additional responsibilities may include advising students. Adjunct positions are contracted on a semester-by-semester basis. This position is an interest list for future adjunct teaching opportunities. Applications will be reviewed by the department periodically, and all candidates will be notified by email if they are chosen to interview for a position.
