On-Call Substitute Teachers
About The Position
UPrep is seeking to develop a list of on-call substitute teachers for various disciplines and grade levels to help us advance our vision of being an inclusive community of learners that provides an outstanding education for each individual in a diverse student population. We’re looking for energetic individuals who can adapt quickly to changing circumstances, individuals who works effectively independently as well as part of a team, and who are passionate about teaching to middle school and high school-aged children and enhancing student life. We are looking for staff and faculty who share our belief that a culturally rich and inclusive school community provides students with the best possible environment for a quality education. Job Summary: Under general supervision, and on a part-time temporary basis, teaches courses as needed in any of the following disciplines: English, Math, History, Science, Languages (Chinese, French and/or Spanish), Fine Arts, and Physical Education.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in one of the disciplines listed above required
- 2+ years’ teaching experience in a related field required
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the students and program
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidential information
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusivity
- Ability to work efficiently in a Microsoft Windows or Mac environment using Office, master common automated systems for record keeping, and learn new technology
- Comfortable with operating Audio/Visual equipment
- Ability to work and communicate well with all levels of faculty and staff
- Ability to work and communicate well with students and their parents
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree preferred
- 5+ years’ teaching experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Provides classroom instruction and management
- Collaborates with colleagues, students, parents and administrators as appropriate
- Is familiar with and complies with all policies and regulations as put forth in the school’s documents
- Since safety and security are everyone’s responsibility, takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, faculty, staff, equipment, materials and facilities
- Performs other duties as assigned
