They will ensure continuity of learning by following pre-established lesson plans and maintaining a positive classroom environment that aligns with SF Day’s values and culture. The role requires quick adaptability, clear communication, and the ability to manage different learning environments.
Requirements
- A BA degree; an advanced degree is preferred.
- Teaching and or Assistant Teaching experience in independent schools is preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- A love for working with children or young adults, is required.

Responsibilities
- Be prepared to accept assignments on short notice, often with little lead time, and be ready to work across different grade levels and subjects as needed.
- Maintain a structured and respectful learning environment by managing student behavior and ensuring classroom rules are followed.
- Teach lessons or facilitate learning activities as outlined in the plans, ensuring students understand key concepts.
- Supervise students throughout the school day, including during recess, transitions between classes, and lunch, ensuring their safety.
- Record student attendance and ensure that the classroom operates smoothly at the start of the day.
- Report to the division head about the day’s progress, including any behavioral or academic concerns.
- Assist students with their classwork, clarify instructions, and provide additional support for students who may need extra help.
- Be flexible to changes in schedule or subject matter, sometimes stepping into various classrooms throughout the day.
- Follow school policies and procedures, including safety drills and emergency responses.
- Other duties as needed.
