This job is excellent for candidates such as college students who must work an irregular schedule around class commitments. On call substitutes will only be contacted for sub assignments on days and times that they have identified as being available. Positions for the school year. Substitutes will fill in at various program sites on as-needed basis. Potential shifts available: 7:00- 9:00 a.m., 7:00 a.m. – 8:15 a.m. or 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. Candidates available for even one day a week are encouraged to apply. Applicant may request to sub for programs in one or all school districts served (De Soto, Gardner, Shawnee Mission, Olathe). Substitutes are responsible for leading games, sports and arts, and for ensuring the safety and well-being of participants. Substitutes must actively supervise children and be effective communicators with parents, children, supervisors, and co-workers. Salary: $16.00 per hour. Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing. Scheduling and shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.

Requirements

  • High School graduate with previous experience working with school age children.
  • Minimum age is 18 years and older.
  • JCPRD requires reference/background screening for all positions.
  • Specified criteria may vary by Department.
