About The Position
Chronicle Heritage is seeking On-Call Staff Paleontologists to support projects in Salt Lake City, Utah. The staff paleontologist will assist with field surveys, construction monitoring, fossil salvages, matrix washing and picking, and other field tasks as needed. This role is crucial in collecting and recording stratigraphic, lithologic, and paleontological data, which are essential for the successful management of non-renewable cultural resources. Additionally, the staff paleontologist may be required to assist with laboratory fossil preparation and identification, data entry and cataloging, along with data analysis and record searches. The position requires local and out-of-state travel, with compensation for travel and lodging provided on a project-by-project basis. The pay rate is dependent upon experience, and the hire type is hourly, as-needed, with a schedule that is project dependent and may include periodic weekend work.
