On-Call Security Guard

The On-Call Security Guard at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA) plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of all staff, patrons, and visitors. This position is part of the YBCA Security + Facilities team and reports directly to the Security Manager. The Security Guard is responsible for monitoring the entry and exit of the facilities, routinely patrolling the premises to detect signs of intrusion, and maintaining the security of exhibitions and YBCA property. The role requires responding to alarms and emergencies, which may include evacuating the facility when necessary. Additionally, the Security Guard is expected to attend required safety and emergency training sessions and write detailed Daily Activity Reports and incident reports in case of any damage or injury. The position also involves monitoring unauthorized persons and unusual occurrences through the CCTV system, providing traffic control for trucks at loading docks, and assisting janitorial staff with trash receptacles. A high level of customer service is essential, as the Security Guard will interact with visitors and employees, ensuring a welcoming environment. Knowledge of de-escalation techniques is important, and additional training will be provided on-site. Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the Security Guard may need to work evenings, weekends, or holidays for special events. Adherence to YBCA policies and procedures is mandatory, along with compliance with all post orders and requirements.
