About The Position

The SANE program at ThedaCare offers care to patients 24/7 on an on-call basis within the emergency department. Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) provide direct care to victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, strangulation, and child abuse who present to the emergency departments. They must be comfortable practicing autonomously in a patient-centered environment while discussing sensitive topics. Using trauma-informed care and forensic nursing, they deliver coordinated, expert forensic and medical care necessary to increase successful prosecution of sex offenders and to assure essential medical intervention to victims of violence.

Requirements

• Current Wisconsin RN Licensure
• Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• One year of direct patient care in an acute setting required
• Two years of direct patient care in an acute setting preferred
• Forensic nurse experience preferred
• American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS)
