About The Position

The University of St. Thomas invites qualified candidates to apply for an On-Call Nurse Practitioner position within the Center for Well-Being. Pay Range: $58-67/hr The University of St. Thomas has provided a salary range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The specific salary offered will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. This position exists to provide direct patient care to the University of St. Thomas students in Health Services (HS) in compliance with all medical state licensure, federal mandates and institutional practice agreement standards. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) performs health histories and physical examinations, orders lab tests and x-ray exams, prescribes treatments & medications, assures adequate follow-up, obtains consultation or referrals as required, and follows standardized charting procedures.

Requirements

  • MS, MSN, or MA or graduation from an accredited PA program
  • AANPCB or ANCC (Family or Adult) Nurse Practitioner Certification or NCCPA Physician Assistant Certification
  • Current MN RN & APRN or PA licensure
  • Current DEA

Nice To Haves

  • Prior clinic experience in either family practice, internal medicine, or college health

Responsibilities

  • Provides assessment and diagnosis of both acute and chronic physical and mental health conditions of patients.
  • Performs complete routine physical examinations, including interpretation and evaluation of diagnostic test results.
  • Interprets patient’s medical and psychosocial history, physical exam, and diagnostic testing with recognition between normal, normal variance, and abnormal findings.
  • Evaluates assessment information to identify each patient’s needs relative to age, developmental stage, and culture.
  • Establishes plan of care, utilizing evidence-based interventions, established protocols, guidelines, and standards of care specific to diagnosis.
  • Follows up on all abnormal findings by either intervention, counseling, or referral to on- or off-campus resources.
  • Documents all assessment and treatment appropriately and accurately in electronic health record per HIPAA and FERPA standards.
  • Works independently in the clinical setting and cooperatively within the Center for Well-Being to provide quality patient care and more widely with a variety of University departments to facilitate a comprehensive experience for students/faculty/staff.
  • Functions as a mentor and resource for Registered Nurse(s), Medical Assistant(s) and support staff to ensure quality of care, compliance in policies and procedures, and adherence to laws and regulation protecting patients and their privacy.
  • Assists in the assessment of individuals needing more urgent care; connects with Public Safety and emergency medical personnel when necessary.
  • Performs other duties supporting the daily operation of Health Services and the Center for Well-Being as assigned.
