About The Position

A Solheim Environmental Services Aide contributes to the success of Solheim by effectively performing housekeeping and laundry duties in both residential and skilled nursing laundry areas. As with all positions at Solheim, Housekeepers must be willing and able to work as “team players,” providing consistent high quality care for patients/residents. This is a position which requires scheduling flexibility (scheduled days and times may change from week to week) and is eligible for overtime pay. On a typical day, a Housekeeper /Laundry Aide at Solheim will: Cleans occupied and non-occupied resident rooms according to departmental and infection control procedures while using proper safety precautions. Maints nurse stations, public restrooms and waiting areas in a sanitary presentable condition throughout shift. Assists in assuring that first impression areas such as; entrances, lobbies, elevators and corridors are free of trash and spills. Reports maintenance and housekeeping concerns to immediate supervisor. Maints clean and organized housekeeping cart with properly diluted and labeled chemicals. Attends all department and Solheim in-services and orientation as required. Ensures high quality of cleanliness to facility performing assigned cleaning duties. Cleans as he/she goes. Picks up debris (trash, leaves, crumbs etc.) throughout facility to ensure best coverage and appearance of all areas. Moves furniture during cleaning as necessary, requests assistance as needed. Performs the following duties in the Laundry as assigned: separates laundry, washes, dries and fold laundry according to Solheim laundry procedures. Adheres to payroll policies and properly uses timekeeping system with minimal manual changes. Maints regular and consistent attendance. Adheres to Compliance Plan and HIPAA regulations. Be separating laundry, washing laundry, drying laundry, and folding laundry according to Solheim’s laundry procedures.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent (required)
  • Desire and ability to work with ill, aged, and disabled persons.
  • Willingness and ability to read, write, speak, understand English and have the communications skills necessary to provide accurate information to residents and staff.
  • Willingness and ability to follow written and verbal direction in English.
  • Willingness and ability to maintain appropriate level of confidentiality and privacy.
  • Willingness and ability to interact professionally with all customers, including the ill, aged, disabled persons and co-workers, individually and as part of a team.
  • Willingness and ability to effectively handle multiple items/tasks as required and adapt favorably to changing priorities.
  • Willingness and ability to make appropriate judgments, decisions and problem solving in a timely manner and within the context of the situation at hand.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years’ experience in a skilled nursing facility/hospital setting or residential retirement environment (preferred)
  • Bilingual – English/Spanish (preferred)
