Responsibilities may include computer programming or operations; research support; medical patient care; technical equipment maintenance, repair, fabrication or operation; or other technical support functions. Unit Position Summary Cardiac sonographers, also known as echocardiographers, are medical professionals who use ultrasound technology to create images of the heart and blood vessels for diagnostic purposes. They operate ultrasound equipment, anlayze images, and collaborate with cardiologists to help diagnose and treat heart conditions. The On-Call Cardiac Sonographer duties include, but are not limited to: Performing echocardiogram tests to obtain important data about patients; looking at blood flow, valve function, and chamber size to determine the overall condition of the heart; assisting physicians in the diagnosis of patients with heart conditions; accurately recording patient data and test results; helping with administrative duties such as scheduling appointments or cleaning equipment.
