Stantec is seeking a mid to senior level on-call Botanist to join our Environmental Services Practice working within Northern California, to provide as-needed biological support over multiple projects and programs. This position may include writing reports, collecting biological data, surveys, habitat assessments and environmental compliance. The position is to be based out of our Sacramento, Roseville, Nevada City, Chico, Redding, San Francisco, Walnut Creek, San Jose, or Fresno offices.

Requirements

• Knowledge of California ecosystems and floristics, and experience with the Jepson Manual.
• Excellent written and communication skills.
• Familiarity with review and analysis of scientific data, maps, and drawings.
• Strong skills as a self-starter.
• Good driving record and a valid driver's license is required.
• Minimum of a BA/BS degree in Botany, Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant field experience.

Nice To Haves

• Wetland delineation experience.
• Experience in driving ATVs.
• CPR/Wilderness First Aid Certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist and/or lead field work tasks, primarily for floristic inventories, vegetation community sampling and mapping, and potentially for wetland delineations and compliance monitoring.
• Communicate with your team, team leads, project manager and potentially construction crews, clients, or other stakeholders.
• Prepare daily monitoring and/or field reports.
