About The Position

Sonesta Atlanta Airport North, 1325 Virginia Avenue, Atlanta, GA is seeking an associate to interact with our guests and ensure they have a great experience when dining and meeting at the hotel. Banquet servers are responsible for positive guest interactions while serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner. At all times, servers are expected to be attentive to our guest needs and make them feel welcome, comfortable, important and relaxed. On-call Banquet Servers must be available to work weekends and holidays.

  • Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time; for training and safety purposes, and when interacting with guests and associates.

Responsibilities

  • Operational/Functional Set up for events, carry trays, serve guests and clean up at the event’s conclusion.
  • Set up can include putting out tablecloths and place settings, arranging table placement and putting up a buffet.
  • Review Banquet Event Orders (BEO’s) at the beginning of each shift to ensure rooms are set as contracted.
  • Prepare rooms for use; adjusting lights, sound volumes and temperature as needed before guests arrive.
  • Be in communication with the lead catering staff regarding any special needs.
  • Assist in ensuring that the events are on time.
  • Make adjustments as needed and relay that information to the appropriate personnel.
  • Pass any information that is needed to the next staff member on duty.
  • Ensure proper use, storage and maintenance of all meeting room equipment.
  • Ensure there is proper back up in the event that any equipment is not properly functioning.
  • Maintaining proper dining experience, delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses.
  • Delivering Alcoholic and Non-alcoholic drinks for service to your customer’s table.
  • Properly open and pour wine at the tableside.
  • Performing basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor.
  • Greet all guests and owners warmly with an appropriate greeting.
  • Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently.
  • Understands and can communicate products and services available at the hotel.

  • Maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness in all areas of the banquet space.
  • Communicate any areas of need, problems, and concerns from guest to Banquet Manager or Banquet Captain.
  • If no upcoming events, please have rooms in a readiness position for any possible site inspection.
  • Keep inventory of all equipment in order and stored in their appropriate areas.
  • Provide all group guests with a lasting experience of the hotel with intent for return business.
  • Follow through with the proper and timely set-up and execution of banquet events.
  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism.
  • Maintain all equipment and facilities in an organized, clean, safe environment.
  • Comply with the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards and the Sonesta Atlanta Airport North extraordinary service culture.
