About The Position

The Old Brooklyn Community Development Corporation (OBCDC) is seeking an AmeriCorps VISTA member to enhance community engagement and capacity building within the Old Brooklyn neighborhood. This role focuses on addressing social determinants of health by improving access to fresh foods, healthy housing, and economic stability. The member will work closely with community members and organizations to develop outreach strategies, increase volunteer engagement, and support various community health initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with under-represented populations in Old Brooklyn to understand their needs.
  • Develop outreach strategies and materials to increase volunteer engagement.
  • Collaborate with OBCDC staff to identify program needs and strategies.
  • Share information about community services, including SNAP education and housing programs.
  • Support healthy housing initiatives and food access programs at the Old Brooklyn Farmers Market.
