About The Position

Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. From individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity. The Lead MFG Assembly Technician will identify process improvements to improve build efficiency. You will work closely with multiple engineering teams on both early hardware development and setting the stage for later production hardware manufacturing processes. The successful candidate thrives in a fast paced, start-up like environment and are able to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills and commitment to quality to positively impact team metrics and organization goals. To be successful you need to be highly motivated and detail oriented while showing the highest standards of execution.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent diploma, or 4+ years of Mechanical or Electrical apprenticeship experience
  • 2+ years of mechanical and electrical integration or assembly experience
  • Experience in a fast-paced, automated, industrial, logistics, production or manufacturing environment
  • 4+ years of industrial controls and automation experience
  • Work 40 hours/week, and overtime as required
  • Can carry/lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and frequently push, pull, squat, bend and reach

  • Experience reviewing and understanding engineering design documents for electronic, mechanical and electro-mechanical parts and assembly drawings of products

Responsibilities

  • Driving and developing departmental continuous improvement initiatives and support implementation.
  • Assemble mechanical and electrical satellite components, sub-assemblies, and integration assemblies, fabricating and/or processing materials into complex manufactured products, and operating testing equipment and tooling, all in a Cleanroom and ESD control environment.
  • Lead process work and review output for quality and adherence to standards and procedures
  • Lead daily team meeting facilitation, end-of-shift reporting, and coordinating efforts to minimize production interruptions.
  • Support new-hire training programs within your department and contribute to development and modification of training programs. You develop training plans for your team and are responsible for implementing training programs within your department.
  • Drive safety standards and operations protocol while ensuring team compliance.
