About The Position

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of the training program for Distribution Construction Trainee and OH Mechanic B or three years of experience in OH/URD distribution construction or maintenance.
  • Satisfactory completion of the Construction and Skilled Trades Test (CAST).
  • Ability to meet company driving standards and possess a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately in English.
  • Willingness to work overtime and be available for callout overtime.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in safety-sensitive functions subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

  • Construct and maintain overhead distribution and sub-transmission lines.
  • Perform secondary URD cable fault locating.
  • Install, transfer, or remove overhead wire and direct buried cable.
  • Splice, terminate, and connect wire and cable.
  • Check circuits for continuity and phasing.
  • Install, relocate, and remove distribution equipment.
  • Install and activate residential and small commercial metering equipment.
  • Act as field inspector for contract crews on a temporary basis.
  • Operate light digging, backfilling, earth moving, and loading equipment.
  • Climb and work from poles, aerial lifts, trees, ladders, and similar structures.
  • Prepare daily reports and associated paperwork.
  • Drive distribution construction vehicles and occasionally tow trailers.
  • Inspect tools periodically to ensure good operating condition.
  • Set up work area protection in accordance with company standards.
  • Apply resuscitation and first aid as needed.
