About The Position

The Offshore Wind Energy Adjunct Faculty position is a part-time role within the Engineering department, reporting to the Dean of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The faculty will be responsible for teaching and developing curriculum for courses related to Offshore Wind Energy, Wind Power Technology, and related fields. Courses may be offered in various formats including online, hybrid, or face-to-face, and may take place in multiple locations including Attleboro, Fall River, New Bedford, and Taunton. The position is non-benefitted and contingent upon sufficient enrollment. The starting date is set for the Academic Year 2025-2026, with a minimum salary of $1,397 per credit hour, commensurate with the DCE Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Proven technological proficiency, including Microsoft Office 365 applications.
  • Prior online teaching experience using a Learning Management System.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree or higher in Electromechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 9-18 graduate credits in offshore wind energy or related disciplines.
  • Global Wind Organization (GWO) certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience at the college level or as a facilitator or trainer.
  • Experience using High Impact Practices.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Canvas or another Learning Management System.
  • Experience developing and teaching curricula in asynchronous online and/or hybrid formats.
  • Demonstrated commitment to closing equity gaps.
  • Experience with writing grant proposals, grant management, and budgeting.
  • Ability to communicate in a language in addition to English.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and design Offshore Wind Energy course material to meet learning outcomes.
  • Facilitate hands-on laboratory experiences in the Offshore Wind Laboratory.
  • Assess student learning and assign grades using equitable and inclusive pedagogies.
  • Create an effective learning environment that fosters intellectual curiosity.
  • Employ a variety of assessments to ensure classroom instruction leads to student learning.
  • Help students reach their academic, personal, and professional goals.
  • Contribute to and provide leadership in the student's academic communities.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Complete required trainings such as Title IX and FERPA.
  • Adhere to workload specifications in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Be available to students for assistance in meeting course requirements.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and reflect Bristol's core values.
  • Focus on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
