About The Position

The Offshore Fire Technician I at Total Safety U.S., Inc. is responsible for performing inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs of lifesaving equipment and fire suppression systems in an offshore oil and gas environment. This role requires minimal supervision and involves adhering to safety regulations while ensuring compliance with industry standards. The technician will also participate in safety training and assist senior technicians as needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED (associates degree or military training preferred).
  • Offshore experience in the Oil and Gas Industry.
  • Possession of a PEC card with SafeGulf endorsement and recent offshore work experience.
  • Valid TWIC card and driver's license with proof of vehicle insurance.
  • Completion of Tropical Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (T-HUET) course.
  • Certificate for LA State Fire Marshal recognized course for fire extinguisher inspections or willingness to obtain within three months.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems within policy limitations.
  • Good computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend a second language is a plus.
  • Experience with NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems or Special Hazards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs of lifesaving equipment and fire suppression systems.
  • Complete assigned tasks with limited instruction and move to the next task efficiently.
  • Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and utilize Total Safety's work ticket program for invoicing.
  • Complete inspection reports and submit them in a timely manner to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate services performed and discrepancies found to customers effectively.
  • Participate in monthly and quarterly safety training without management direction.
  • Attend daily pre-work safety meetings and adhere to safety policies and practices.
  • Learn to operate a multi-meter and read safety analysis charts and firefighting plans.
  • Train and/or teach subordinate technicians as needed.
