About The Position

Quad in Winchester, VA is seeking candidates with mechanical experience to become Press Rolltenders. A Rolltender's primary responsibility is to consistently load rolls of paper onto a printing press. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: understanding standard operating procedures of the department, coordinating plates and tickets for upcoming jobs and hanging paper according to job tickets, inspecting rolls of paper for blemishes or tears and cutting away any damage, setting up and making splices, bending and hanging plates as well as hanging blankets and assisting with webbing up press, ensuring correct ink is available for job and checking ink fountains regularly, setting fold during make-readies and checking trim sheets to proof and completing necessary roll reports and paperwork accurately, communicating effectively with plate room and paper warehouse and coordinating changing of ink, etch, and silicone totes as needed, washing up the press and assisting with preventative maintenance.

Requirements

  • Candidates with previous jogger/entry level experience a plus.
  • Strong mechanical abilities and previous knowledge of presses and roll stands are a plus.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations are essential.
  • Good verbal and written comprehension skills are a must.
  • Must be able to thrive in a team environment and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to bend and lift 10-20 pounds continuously.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to stand long hours, use hands and wrists continuously, and use vision to identify defects.
  • Ability to perform repetitious tasks in a fast-paced atmosphere with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities
