About The Position

The Second Judicial Circuit of Florida is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Official Court Reporter I or II in the Tallahassee office. This position will be available after September 27, 2024. The essential function of the position within the organization is to attend and stenographically record criminal felony trial proceedings and produce verbatim transcripts. This role is critical in ensuring that accurate and complete records of court proceedings are maintained, which is essential for the judicial process. The Official Court Reporter will work closely with judges, attorneys, and other court personnel to facilitate the smooth operation of court sessions. In this position, the Official Court Reporter will only report on criminal felony trials and criminal felony court proceedings. There is no requirement for daily or rough transcripts, which allows the reporter to focus on producing high-quality verbatim transcripts. A proofreader will be provided to assist in ensuring the accuracy of the transcripts. The position also offers teleworking days, promoting a work-life balance with no nights or weekends required unless reporting a criminal trial. The weekly schedule is designed to allow flexibility for personal appointments or vacations, making it an attractive option for candidates seeking a balanced work environment.
