About The Position

The Safety & Security Officer is responsible for maintaining and enforcing the security/safety rules and regulations for the Nutrien- Aurora plant site. In addition, the Safety & Security Officer is responsible for providing world-class customer service for those entering the production area to conduct business. This position requires superior cognitive ability and system knowledge to manage the constant changes during a 12-hour shift. These activities are essential to cost-effective operations and require a strict attention to detail. Duties include but are not limited to overseeing and directing traffic and support operation activities, conducting periodic inspections, and operating emergency response equipment in a safe and effective manner.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • The National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) testing is required for all hourly applicants of Nutrien. Applicants must complete this test and meet a minimum of 4 in Graphic Literacy, 5 on Applied Mathematics and 5 on Workplace Documents in order to be considered eligible for employment with Nutrien. The National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) must be uploaded with your resume during your application to be considered eligible for employment with Nutrien
  • Keen observation skills, communication skills, and acute attention to details are needed
  • Basic computer skills are required

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years of work-related experience in security and/or Emergency Medical Training Certification (EMT) is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform security checks for traffic entering the plant site
  • Issue plant passes to visitors by reviewing their license and verifying that the ID presented matches the description of the person presenting the ID, and that ID is valid.
  • Confirm accuracy of all in-bound freight deliveries by inspecting the operator’s Department of Transportation endorsements and bills-of-lading
  • Enforce federal, state and company (MARSEC, MSHA, OSHA, FDA, etc.) safety protocols and regulations
  • Collect samples of all out-bound customer product
  • Conduct inspections of perimeter security by checking gate components for proper operation, fence condition including vegetation control, and proper property signage
  • Provide emergency assistance to people on the plant-site and surrounding municipalities
  • Learning the details in all aspects of Standard Operating Procedures, safety, environmental procedures, and regulations is a requirement of the job
