About The Position

Under the supervision of the Right of Way Deputy Director and the lead of Senior level staff including the Staff Services Manager I, the Office Technician (Typing) performs various duties and a wide variety of difficult non-supervisory clerical assignments. The incumbent will work as a team member and will be expected to consistently exercise a high degree of initiative, and independence in performing assigned tasks. Please see Duty Statement.

Requirements

  • Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the OFFICE TECHNICIAN (TYPING) exam.
  • For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is required when operating a State owned or leased vehicle.
  • The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate, confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired.
  • Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment.
  • If you are basing your eligibility on education, you must include your unofficial transcript(s)/diploma for verification.
  • Applicants with foreign transcripts/degrees must provide a transcript/degree U.S. equivalency report evaluation that indicates the number of units and degree to which the foreign coursework is equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, excellent written and verbal communication, proficiency with office software like Microsoft Office, exceptional attention to detail, the ability to multitask and handle confidential information, and proactive problem-solving abilities.
  • A professional disposition, strong interpersonal skills, and relevant administrative experience.
  • Experience with setting up virtual meetings, preparing Power Point presentations, and 'Smart' equipment utilization are a plus.
