About The Position

The mission of the California Labor Commissioner's Office is to ensure a just day's pay in every workplace in the State and to promote economic justice through robust enforcement of labor laws. By combating wage theft, protecting workers from retaliation, and educating the public, we put earned wages into workers' pockets and help level the playing field for law-abiding employers. This office is also known as the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE). This position is in our Wage Claim Adjudication Unit. To learn more about this program, visit: https://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/dlseWagesandHours.html Under the supervision of the Deputy Labor Commissioner III (DLC III/Senior Deputy) in the Wage Claim Adjudication (WCA) unit, the Office Technician (Typing) performs a wide variety of the most difficult clerical duties for the WCA program in order to support the labor code law enforcement functions of the program efficiently and effectively. The Office Technician (Typing) performs processing and data entry of various documents including claims, Public Records Act (PRA) requests, and reports. Requirements

  • Applicants must be either reachable on an employment list, have transfer eligibility or have reinstatement eligibility.
  • Typing Certificate requirements: Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM, issued within the last four (4) years, and certified from a proctored, five (5) minute typing test.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a wide variety of the most difficult clerical duties for the WCA program in order to support the labor code law enforcement functions of the program efficiently and effectively.
  • Performs processing and data entry of various documents including claims, Public Records Act (PRA) requests, and reports.
