The position involves greeting and interacting with patients, staff, and the public both in person and over the telephone. Responsibilities include scheduling patient appointments for various services such as laboratory tests, chemotherapy infusion, physician visits, injections, and chemotherapy education. The role requires cross-training in the Reception and Registration areas of the Oncology Institute. Daily tasks include preparing schedules, handling pre-registration and insurance verification, relaying messages and information to patients and hospital staff, and managing communication with other physician offices. The candidate must be able to process and prioritize tasks in a busy medical practice setting and complete special projects as designated. Effective oral and written communication skills are essential, as is maintaining confidentiality of all hospital records and activities. The role also involves participating in the orientation and clinical experience of students, as well as engaging in staff development and education. Personal responsibility for professional development and continuing education is expected.
