About The Position

Global Solutions Network (GSN), a federal government contracting firm, presents this full time, long-term position supporting GSN's customer at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Requirements

  • Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Interior Design or a related discipline
  • Minimum of six (6) years of related experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in:
  • MS Office Suite
  • AutoCAD
  • Autodesk Revit
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work with staff on space planning, architectural interior design, design review and coordination of new and existing space renovated within National Cancer Institute (NCI) office buildings and biomedical research facilities.
  • Conduct space surveys; discuss with and provide expert advice and guidance regarding what areas are to be surveyed and what types of information must be gathered.
  • Plan and develop interior spaces, considering factors such as function, user needs, building codes, durability, life cycle costs, energy use, aesthetics and budget.
  • Advise staff on interior design factors such as space planning, layout and utilization of furnishings and equipment, materials and color selection.
  • Review schematic design, design development and construction drawings to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Work with staff on the design and placement of ergonomic equipment.
  • Confer with client to determine factors affecting planning interior environments, such as budget, architectural preferences, purpose and function.
  • Coordinate relocation projects with on-site move management staff.
  • Develop working knowledge of VisionFM, the Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) system for the NCI Office of Facilities and Space Management (OSFM).
  • Work with outside vendors to coordinate furniture procurement and installation.
  • Review survey submitted by contract staff, in conjunction with other appropriate staff members.
  • Use computer-aided drafting (CAD) and related software to produce planning and/or construction documents.
  • Review shop drawings.
  • Maintain furniture inventory for reuse and retrofit of existing space.
  • Ensure that all drawings follow appropriate standards and guidelines.
  • Coordinate with trades, including contractors, architects and engineers.
  • Conduct reviews to ensure that space is assigned and used per its original intent and the capabilities of the overall building structure and layout.
