About The Position

The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) is committed to excellence in public safety by providing effective interventions that improve the lives of youth, strengthening both families and communities within the Commonwealth. The individual in this position will support the mission and organizational objectives of the department by providing essential administrative support to the CSU Director and staff. This role involves supervision of administrative support staff and serving as a member of the CSU leadership team. The supervisor will also ensure the proper application of all relevant policies and procedures according to departmental, state, local, and judicial requirements.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of office practices and procedures
  • Working knowledge of manual and automated filing systems
  • Experience in data entry, typing correspondence and transcribing
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software to include Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of the budgetary process
  • Knowledge of confidentiality issues and human resources practices
  • Knowledge of office management and supervision principles
  • Ability to read, interpret, analyze procedures, skills in time management
  • Experience operating a multi-line telephone system, fax machines; copiers and printers
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to public, community service providers and staff
  • Knowledge of state procurement processes
  • Ability to interact with other DJJ support entities in support of the unit

Responsibilities

  • Provide essential administrative support to the CSU Director and staff
  • Provide supervision of administrative support staff
  • Serve as a member of the CSU leadership team
  • Ensure the proper application of all relevant policies and procedures according to departmental, state, local and judicial requirements
