About The Position

The Office of Economic Assistance is seeking motivated and mission-driven interns to support two major program areas: Employment First and the newly updated SNAP Employment & Training (SNAP E&T) program. This internship provides hands-on experience in program development, workforce development, program research, data analysis, and employer engagement within a public service setting. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in human services, workforce development, public administration, HR recruitment, career services, or business administration.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university (two-to-four-year institution) OR recently graduated (within one year) from an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university (two-to-four-year institution).

Responsibilities

  • Employment First Program Assist with program development that supports participants in identifying career pathways and achieving self-sufficiency.
  • Participate in activities such as mock interviews, career exploration, and Apprenticeship prep.
  • Contribute to the development of training materials, best practices, and streamlined processes for a major 6-year pilot program now entering its research and improvement phase.
  • Bring innovative ideas to enhance program effectiveness and participant experience.
  • SNAP Employment & Training (E&T) Program Support a newly revamped program focused on building relationships with employers through a designated business representative model.
  • Assist in researching other states’ approaches, helping Nebraska create a program that resonates with employers and participants.
  • Contribute to ongoing development of an additional employer-focused program component.
  • Research, Data, and Reporting Conduct data analysis, including creating reports and building processes for ongoing program evaluation.
  • Assist with comparative state research to benchmark best practices.
  • Develop and update training materials and help transition key program documents to digital platforms.
  • Support partnerships with out-of-state employers and contribute to overall improvement program efforts.
  • Operations & Process Improvement Assist the Economic Mobility Administrator and other team members with reviewing, updating, and improving processes and procedures across the Office of Economic Assistance.
  • Provide an additional set of eyes for workflow enhancements and documentation.
