The position involves managing, coordinating, and monitoring the Orthopedic Casting Service at The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Health Center. The role requires establishing positive relationships with patients, visitors, and employees while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The individual will be responsible for maintaining orthopedic equipment and supply inventory, assisting in budget preparation, and ensuring the cleanliness and functionality of the orthopedic clinic.

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, visitors, and other employees.
  • Contribute to and participate in the Performance/Quality Improvement activities of the assigned department.
  • Develop and maintain orthopedic equipment and supply inventory for the practice, the Emergency Department, and the Hospital.
  • Write and maintain equipment and supply inventory lists.
  • Develop and implement a reference manual for ordering of equipment and supplies.
  • Insure the timely start and completion of the Orthopedic Practice in collaboration with the administrator.
  • Assist the administrator in the preparation of the orthopedic supply and capital budget.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and functionality of the orthopedic clinic.
  • Maintain and improve competencies and skills through professional development opportunities.
  • Assure that radiology reports and films are available at the time patients are seen.
  • Order prosthesis and arrange for their proper billing.
  • Provide training on orthopedic bed setups, traction techniques, casting, cast repair, and patient self-care.
  • Conduct quarterly studies on radiology film and report availability and develop improvement plans.
  • Perform duties and responsibilities of an Orthopedic Cast Technician.
  • Three (3) years experience as an Orthopedic Cast Technician.
  • Two (2) years supervisory experience in a Health Care Setting.
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting and fiscal principles.
  • Certified as an Orthopedic Cast Technician.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Working knowledge of basic office computer systems.
