About The Position

Hughes General Contractors often has Office Internships available for individuals that are pursuing a degree within Construction Management, Architecture and Civil Engineering fields. We accept applications for internships on a year-round basis in order for candidates to be able to plan far enough in advance of the actual time frame that they would like to begin. Our unique program has been specially designed to provide a strong foundation for your career . Each internship looks and feels different. We customize the experience based on the direction, goals and schooling. Depending on your focus, you will be partnered with a senior mentor and work alongside industry experts to gain a knowledge and understanding of the entire construction process. Requirements

  • Internships are positions that are ONLY considered as an option for individuals enrolled in an educational program.
  • Must be able to pass controlled substance tests prior to and at all times during employment.

Responsibilities

  • Becomes familiar with the assigned project plans and specifications in order to assist the engineer with the project.
  • Assist in processing RFI's, Submittals (collects from subcontractors and distributes to architects/engineers/consultants).
  • Preparing technical reports and calculations
  • Compiling documentation
  • Assisting with the preparation and interpretation of plans and specifications
  • Interacting with clients, designers, owners, contractors, inspectors, and authorities to support project activities
  • Monitoring project communications between contractor, Owner, and Engineer
  • Attending construction and related project meetings and developing and distributing timely meeting agendas and minutes.
  • Maintains logs, reflecting the status of shop drawings, requests for clarification, change requests, and proposal requests.
  • Assist in ensuring appropriate materials are available for the preparation of the project
